I wanted to know if it would be safe to reformat my m1530 with windows xp. Would it cause and driver issues, etc?

Yes you can and if you can't find the XP drivers for your M1530 you could use XP driverS from the M1330 from Dell's site.
There are some issues you need to address in doing so mainly to do with Hard drive and Bios. Have a good read up here http://www.dellcommunity.com/suppor...hread.id=253132&view=by_date_ascending&page=1 -
Metamorphical Good computer user
The first thing I would do with any new laptop at this point is downgrade from Vista. Me and Vista are not saavy as Captain Sparrow would say. Dell has always had great driver support (Companies like Sony and Toshiba on the other hand have a real lack of driver support) and I would imagine that Dell will have most of the drivers on there website. Keeping in mind this is a brand new model if not now they'll be out shortly. You can probably try drivers for the XPS 1330 as suggested.
