    i am having some problems with my 1520 and i was wondering how to go about reformatting it back to "new"?

    have you tried pressing ctrl+f11 while booting? dell has a hidden partition with an image of the laptop when you bought it normally..

    To new as in factory install or new as in fresh install? You should use the restore DVD to bring the computer to a fresh install state.
