I am after a Dell Studio 1749 with full HD screen not currently an option in UK. I have found a refurb model with spec I am after

    Studio 1749
    Intel Core i5-540M 2.53GHz (3.06Ghz Turbo Mode 3M cache)
Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate (32 BIT)
    500GB Serial ATA (5400RPM)
    4096MB (2x2048) 1067MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
8X DVD+/-RW Drive including Roxio Burn software
    Radeon HD 5650 1GB GPU
17.3in Full High Definition (1920X1080) LED with TrueLife

    1 yr warranty

Anyone else bought a refurb were you happy, is it worth it or am I inviting problems?

    Thanks

I've bought two refurbs and both were great. My refurb 14R looked brand new!

I never buy new anymore. It's not worth the money when the refurbished units carry the same warranty. I'm pretty sure there are options to extend the warranty during the rear of the checkout process, too. At least, lat I checked, such was the case.

Thanks will check it out, when I was on the spec screen it offered 1 yr ARB or 3yr Hardware Support (next Business day) I thought it would give the same 3 warranty options you get if buying new.

    What is ARB anyway?

Thinking over it though I do not think that I would benefit much from the FHD screen to justify the extra cost however some good deals to be had :)

I have the standard 1 year warranty. I just emailed them the other day expressing concern for my poor battery life. They just overnighted me a new battery. Pretty sweet warranty for a refurb IMO.
