Bought a refurb dell xps m1330 just over 5 months ago from aria.co.uk and the screen has gone. Works with an external monitor but black screen on the laptop. Has passed the 90 day aria warranty.

Have contacted Dell who tell me from the service tag of the laptop is registered to someone in Norway hence cannot help me.

I was under the impression that as it was sold to me "fully dell refurbished" this information should have been reset?

Anyone know anything more about this?

Here in the US we have the Better Business Bureau so we can report companies that wrong us. I'm not sure if you have anything like that in your country though.

You're right, they should have changed the ownership to you when you bought it. That is very un-professional what they did.

I hope some other ppl here can give you some better answers.

Oh, you could buy another screen of ebay.

I would only buy a refurb machine from the manufacturer.

3 or 4 years ago, I bought a "refurb" machine from a company that just dealt in these machines. It was not refurbished as far as I could tell and wasn't warrantied either.

Refurbished from dell means it will be alright and good with a full warranty. Refurbished from anyone else means its used and probably has no warranty ie its just used.

You may be generally right but as on the site:

    http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Lapt...E+2+DUO+T5750+2.00GHz+Laptop+?productId=33173

It is sold as "Fully Dell Reconditioned" I was lead to believe it would have been properly refurbished.

Marketing words... their wording may be misleading. What I think is that Dell makes their refurbs go through their quality control, with other companies you just don't know.

    Just to update.
After several emails back and forth..

Forwarding an email from Aria to Dell that they did not have the contact information prompted them to accept a forwarding of my Order and Invoice to Dell as enough to transfer ownership to me (with the warranty included).

Replacement correct battery, OS, memory and screen have been given.

So all fixed after about 6 weeks of arguing back and forth :)
