Is a Dell refurbished m1530 a good idea or am I going to be sending in this laptop for repairs every week?
I would save about about 400 dollars through the refurb so it looks very appealing.

Past experience would be very helpful in my decision.

I would not get a refurbished computer. A refurbished is a computer that usually happens when an owner for some reason, returns a computer. Most places fix them up, but the condition isn't always new. If you absolutely can't spend the extra $400, you could get it, but I would not to be on the safe side.

I am typing this reply on the replacement unit I just received today. While I had an excellent experience with my previous Outlet Inspiron 6000, the M1530 I got a week and a half ago was a mess of poor fit and finish and Dell Support were right farging bastages about helping. (Search my past posts to get a taste of my rage about it.)

This unit is much, much better except for the stupid Samsuck panel which is the bane of the M1530 and you'd likely get stuck with on a brand new unit. I saved over $900 from the new price and while I was pretty steamed at the hassle I went thru to get help, Dell DID make good on this replacement. They added Bluetooth, Audigy audio and an extra year of Complete Care to this unit, so I'm nearly happy. (The screen replacement will be tooth pulling.)

I just got a lemon, I reckon, and now I've got even more than I originally paid for. I will continue to buy from the Dell Outlet; just tempering my expectations in the future. I just reran my config with the current deal and I'm still $800 up, so unless there's nothing else you want to spend that on, I'd go Outlet. (I saved a month's rent and car payment on this unit.)
