Most of the Dell refurbs I have gotten I couldn't tell the difference from new (except for the big red sticker on the bottom that says REFURBISHED)...

They even had that factory-fresh smell of electronics (which i love)

Yes. Most refurbished laptops are simply returns by customers within a week or so of being received by them and for whatever reason they felt like returning it.

There's no big difference. But, whatever malfunction was present when they returned it may still be present (not likely, but it's possible). A big caution would be getting a refurbished WXGA+ screen since most of the refurbished units still have AOU screens that are extremely grainy.

I ordered a refurbished Ruby Red 1420 (see my sig) and it is in PERFECT condition. With the same warranty available on a refurb that a new laptop gets, there's really nothing to worry about IMO. I would do it again in a heartbeat, especially seeing as how I received my system in 2 days from order date LOL!! :)

    WXGA is 1280 x 800, WSXGA+ is 1680 x 1050. A HUGE difference between the two.

For an extra 10 bucks, you get integrated web cam and a WSXGA+ screen (it might make you squint, though). It's well worth it if you don't mind the occasional squinting. However, it might not be your choice of gaming resolution since if you play games at 1680 x 1050, the setting will have to be very low or you'll have to play at a lower resolution that's not native resolution and thus the picture quality will not be optimum.

8X DVD +/- ---> This is a better option because it can Burn and read DVD's and even Double Layer DVD's it can also Burn and read any cd.

24X CD RW/DVD Drive - This is able to Burn and read any CD, But it can only Read DVD's and not burn DVD's

    Hope this helped.

I would go for the T7100 laptop. Build in Webcam is always nice to have and like you said Bluetooth and 3 years of McAfee Virus protection is sure a plus.

Go for the T7100 you wouldnt be disappointed.

T7100 to T7300 isnt really that big of a difference.

    Hey nsong,

Yeah the 8400GS will play all those games fine. You can set all graphic settings on high except for BF2, I would set it to Medium.

But yeah the 1420 is a nice laptop.

Just to let you know I just ordered a new Vostro 1500 yesterday night.
For only $1006.00 w/o Tax. It's an awesome deal.
You can see my laptop specs in my signature.

Here is the deal for the Vostro 1500 if you are interested.

When we get our systems we need to test them out on BF2 and CS-S and see how they run haha

Dells refurb prices kinda suck. You can't use coupons on them right? I think it might actually be cheaper to get the same thing NEW.... Rocks notebooks got basically the same specs as the 1200 refurb you were looking at, right? And it's 150, 200 bucks cheaper.

the new one is not as nice looking, but hell if it makes any noise :)

also I did the 2nd Business Days shouldn't I recieve it by tomo or is it when it ships out?

Yep thats another good thing about buying a refurbished model. You can get your laptop in less than a week.

While mine takes 2 weeks before it gets shipped.
