I was looking at some high-end laptops, and Dell Precision 5xxx look pretty good, mainly the awesome 1900x1200 screen, good strong specs, etc.
If it comes with a 3-year warranty, is there any downside, especially for 1500-ish? I figure a business machine is built to last, and will have been used well, rather than a gaming rig.
I could be wrong, what's the popular opinion and general feel from you guys?

More specs on the laptop would help. 1500 seems a little high for a refurbished dell laptop. Just from what you have there.

3 year warranty is the reason it costs $1500 ... warranties (especially that long) cost almost as much as the machine itself.

Why pay full price? Seriously. The hardware industry moves so fast, the laptop you just bought is obsolete almost the instant you walk out the door with it. Go refurbished. I have 2 refurbished Dell's and both are still in fantastic shape and running strong. The best part, scored each for under $500. i3 Processors and 500GB HD. Warranty too! Hard to beat really. Just my thoughts.

Panasonic ToughBook CF-Y4: $246 (upgraded HDD from 60GB to 250GB)
HP Mini 5101: $252 (I damaged the keyboard by spilling OJ onto it, so I replaced it for $15)
Dell Latitude D820: $322
Dell Precision M90: $272 -
I go the Refurbished Way when buying from well known Brand Names. I purchased an M11X_R2 with the following specs...
Intel I7
250GB 7200RPM HDD
1GB 335GT Nvidia
8GB RAM DDR2
Bluetooth 2.1
WiFi B-G-N
All the extras...
I paid, at the door... $862.00
Is that a deal or not...? It listed at over $1,675.00 brand new...
Go refurbished... Dell has a good warranty and this is a high quality item...
My five cents...
Refurbished?
