I purchased the refurbished M3800 for a stellar deal from the Dell Outlet (thread can be found here). Upon arriving, and I was bathing in the beautiful 4k display, I found that there was an issue with the display. It seemed as though the circuitry connecting the motherboard to the display panel was damaged. I sent the laptop back for a return, and am currently awaited my refund.

All that to say, I'm extremely apprehensive to purchase another refurbished Dell laptop from the Dell Outlet. I'm looking for some feedback to see if it was simply that I got extremely unlucky, or if this has potential to happen again. Also, should I be worried about an issue being more likely to pop up in a year or two with a refurbished device? Should I simply look elsewhere, or simply try again?

    Thanks!

I used to buy laptops for both personal and business use from Dell outlet UK. We found that with about 250 laptops and desktops of all kinds (mostly XPS but also Alienware's and Inspiron models) we'd fine 1 in every 6 to have some form of issue. Some were minor issues and could be repaired by ourselves, some required the tech to come out and if that didn't address the issue, it would go back. I would say you were sadly unlucky. It is a huge saving over new and I wouldn't hesitate buying from the outlet again despite the higher probability the computer may have some form of fault over new.
