Anyone ever have any problems with a refurbished? I'm thinking about going that route to save some cash on a Dell XPS. I get so confused by the coupons/savings/discounts that I never knew if I was getting a good deal on a new one that I thought maybe I'll just go the refurb route.
Thanks

I had to return one because of a bad screen. The process wasnt painless to say the least, took about 10 calls to get the RMA setup and everything. But I will say that they did offer me another laptop as an exchange and ensured that my refund was processed quickly. So I give them a "C" for overall support.
Check the XPS prices now, especially if you have EPP, you can get some good deals right now. -
Keep in mind refurbished units have short warranties. If something were to go wrong it will be expensive to fix.

Employee Purchase....if you work for a company that has it, you can save extra $$$. Schools offer it as well I believe.

Just got a 6000 refurb, normal warranty is 90 days. I extended to 1 year on site for $64. BTW, the 6000 I received appeared brand new so am very pleased with purchase.

Refurbed machines tend to come with short warranties. As noted all do not. They also may have been already fixed once.

I wouldn't be too wary about buying a refurbished one. I purchased an Inspiron 500m refurbished years ago and it still performs faithfully. I have dropped it at least 3 times now and it still performs well.
Don't get discouraged by those rich people who think used is evil
I would, however, suggest a doing a battery of tests on the notebook within those 90 days (leaving it constantly on for 2 weeks, testing the ram for a couple of hours, etc.) basically what you would do on a new notebook but more just to be safe. -

the lattitude line comes with the 3 year warranty which you can upgrade to a comprehensive warranty for 170 bucks. Not too shabby...
