Does anyone have experience with Dell refurbished LCDs? Do they tend to have more dead pixels or backlight problems? People return them as they are non-ideal?
Or are they simply returns mostly? Seems like there are some okay deals.

It's hard to say. I forget the exact number, but Dell requires a certain number of dead pixels to be present before they consider a display to be defective, so there's a chance that someone could have bought a new LCD, found a few dead pixels but not enough to justify an actual defect according to Dell, and just returned it anyway (probably with a restocking fee), and Dell put it back on the market as a refurb.
It could just be the conspiracy theorist in me, but I would never buy a refurbed LCD display unless I could see it in person and test it before buying it. As it is, even brand new LCD's have enough issues with dead pixels. LCD's are just not something I would buy refurbished. -
Couldn't it just be displays from units that were sent back with other issues/defects? If they reuse that screen they'll have to name it refurbished as it's not brand new....just my 2c
edit: reading your post again....you found a separate refurbished lcd screen from Dell? If that's what you mean i have no idea really, could be they changed backlights or something.
so...is it a refurb screen....or a screen in a refurb laptop? -
i have bought 2 refurb screens both had and still dont have any dead pixels
