OK, I need to return a Dell laptop that I am supposed to receive tomorrow. What's the best strategy of doing it: should I refuse delivery and let Dell pay for it or should I accept it and then return? Dell's rep I talked to wants me to accept it, because my refund would supposedly be faster. Any advice/experience?

Why do you want to return it?

Supposedly (from what I've heard), you are suppose to refuse shipment, but I'm not 100% sure. In order to make returns, you have to notify dell ahead of time, and get a authorization, etc on it. That's the only reason as to why I see they would want you to accept it. Plus you'll have to pay a restocking fee if you accept it.

Well, returning M140 cause I got a better deal on 1405... Already got RA number and no restocking.

Then i see no reason to accept it, but that is just my opinion.

Just refuse the delivery. It'll save you time; although it might take a little bit longer to receive your refund. If Dell ends up charging you a restocking/return shipping fee, just dispute it with your credit card saying that you never got the package.

Dell shouldn't charge me a restocking fee, I already got it confirmed in writing (chat session transcript), but I won't be able to dispute it, because I used DPA.
