I've had my Inspiron 6000 for about a month now.
I don't know, but no one seems to carry this model on my campus
a lot. So.. just out of curiosity... is there anyone who carry
Inspiron 6000 around campus on a daily basis? Let's say for
taking lecture notes and misc.. If so..I would appreciate some
    feedback.

    Thx.

Well, I feel that the laptop is a PC that's very likely to be carried around with me in the future compared to my previous laptop. I have had mine for less than a week. People probably just don't know a lot about it yet so they're a little skeptical about it I guess. You should show them how powerful it is.

I'm going to be carrying mine daily in the Fall when I start law school. I know I could have gotten something lighter, but I wanted the larger screen and a little more power than the lighter notebooks could offer. I got both batteries, the 9 cell specifically for bringing the computer with me so I dont have to carry around a power brick all the time.

    On Order:
    Dell I6000D
    1.86Ghz
    XP Pro
    60GB 7200RPM
    128MB X300

Occationally I will carry the I6000 to school. It weighs more than 9 pounds with everything in a carrying case. After walking with the case on my shoulder for more than 5 minutes, the feeling can be uncomfortable at best. So I try to hold the case in my hand if I don't have to walk too far. I bought dell because of its cheap price. The weight issue is not ideal for porability. If I have the money, I would have chosen IBM T42 or 43. That should reduce the over all weight by about 2 pounds. Anyway, I try not to carry it around unless necessary.

    Dell Inspiron 6000d, Pentium M 750 (1.86 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB), 1GB (2x512MB) 400MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 80GB 5400RPM HD, 128MB ATI X300, 15.4" WSXGA+.

At my school, everyone around me has a 6000. I'm the only one that has something different. They bring theirs everyday so they can work on their html/javascript projects with the professor. I don't see them using it for notes, but they are always on their laptop. Some use rollerbags and carry their books in that, so they don't have to carry anything on their back. Some just use a sleeve.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I definitely agree with ABCA1 that the 6000 is not ideal for carrying around campus a lot.

It makes sense for those who are in the field of computer related studies like computer science majors to carry it around but I wonder what it would be like for a biochemistry, law, or history majors to
carry a 9 pound lappy for class on a daily routine.

Maybe it's just me not being used to carry laptops on campus or
maybe it's because I haven't seen that many people carry around
    a 15 inch screen laptop.

Does anyone know or seen more than 3 students bring a 15inch lappy
in a lecture? It's just that I am probably thinking I'd surely look like a weirdo If I am the only guy with a big screen laptop in a class. [ :D]

I've just got Microsoft OneNote installed in my system and was thinking about carrying it for every single class. That's why
    I am asking... heh

Anyway...if anyone has done this before (taking 6000 to class everyday for taking notes..etc) Please I'd love to heard. [8D]

    P.S. Me too, I have 1.86Hz, 1GB 533Hz RAM, 128MB X300, 60GB 5400RPM. So Far I am Loving It.

I don't think you would look weird. If you were in my class, I would be jealous. On the other hand, I look weird..Try having a 17in [ :D]

I would wait and see how your classes are. For me, some classes, like chemistry and calculus, it was easier to take notes by hand, then transfer them over later. All of my business and computer classes were exact opposite. Plus if you have to kill time between classes, you might want to bring it.
