Does someone have a list of all the possible discs we should contact Dell for. You know, the discs for the programs that come installed but for whatever reason Dell doesn't send to you in case you want to reformat? Like the Audigy HD upgrade disc and RecordNow. I plan on doing a fresh format when the laptop arrives this week and I would like to have all the discs that SHOULD have come with my computer ready when I go to do the format. Thanks.

All that's REALLY necessary are the OS install discs, you should be able to download the rest of the included software off the Dell web site. As for what (for additional software) should come with it, check your order - the notable software should be listed there.

Here are the discs that you generally have to request from Dell:
    Cyberlink PowerDVD
    Sonic RecordNow
XP Disc (if you did not purchase the disc with your shipment) bundle
    • XP disc
    • Drivers & Download Disc
    • Applications Disc - software that Dell thinks you might actually use
    • Software Disc - includes all of the junk software like QuickBooks trialware

Discs that should come with your system:

Printer Disc (if you order one)
    Works
Paid software (MS Office, Photoshop, etc)
XP Bundle (if you purchased it with your system)

SB Audigy -- i'm not sure. Some users have received the disc with their shipment, some haven't.

Microsoft Works. It used to be included with the your laptop, but that has been a year since i've ordered one. When I got my laptop, I got about 5 discs. Printer, Works, XP, Drivers & Applications, & Software junk

Sonic RecordNow does not come with your system, you have to separately request it. It is basically Nero, but not as good Nero (IMO).

Dell doesn't send out the XP discs anymore. You have to buy them with your purchase, but you can also try to request them from Dell's Tech Support.

This will come with your XP disc. The only thing that you might need to request is Sonic RecordNow & Cyberlink PowerDVD if these apply to you. Dell won't send these out with your XP set.

You can get the XP reinstallation discs very easily, and for free. Go to the Dell Customer Care Chat or whatever it's called and under order status, use the missing product option. Then just say I need the XP (and whatever other discs you want). Just tell them you need them for reformatting purposes. If they say that they offer them as a download or whatever, just say you can't do it and voila.

I did this and they overnighted them to me.
