    Hello all,

    My sister is going to her laptop very soon. But I am wondering about the reinstallation of XP OS. On my 1150, when I reinstall the OS, it just took me setup, w/o having enter the serial number. Is that the same with today's Dell laptops?

    Just reinstalled XP on new Dell laptop using the Dell supplied disks. It will ask for the product code, which will be on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop. if you install from an XP disk you already have it will ask for the product code from that packaging.

    Of course, I will get her a separate XP disk, $10, sigh. Mine was free.

    fwiw... on my reinstall, it didn't ask. So you got me as to which will happen.... Worse case you'll need to take a peek at the 'key' sticker.

    Ah I see, so there is a 50-50 chance I will not need to enter the code. I am looking somebody that has the B130, that he/she reinstalled the OS.
