Maybe its kinda dumb questions, but is there any difference between reinstalling XP on a notebook then on a custom built desktop?

I did the reinstall part on my old desktop quite a few times, but never on my d610...now its given down in the family and I would like to speed it up by cleaning my mess from it with a fresh install. Are there any special things or you can just format the drive and then boot from the XP CD and then the drivers?

It's basically the same. If you're using the OEM disk, you won't even have to activate it. Just setup windows, load your drivers and you're good to go.
