I checked the archives, but did not find what I am looking for. I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 notebook with Windows 2000 Pro. This computer was part of a network. I tried to install XP on this as a second OS (but I did not put it on a separate partition - bad mistake I think!). I tried to remove XP, and think I got most of it. My problems really started when trying to boot up, the computer hangs when the progress bar reaches the end on the Windows 2000 Pro start-up screen. I have the original disks from Dell, so I thouhgt I would reinstall. I tried to do a clean install, and after I prompt to install, the coomputer says it is looking for previous versions of Windows and hangs. I tried to repair, and same issue.

    What can I try now?

    Thank you,
    John
