    Okay so not to sure if this is where it goes but I'm wanting to do a reinstall on windows 7 how do I do it? I only have a dell windows 7 recovery cd. I haven't made a recovery cd on my laptop do i need it for a reinstall I know how to do it on a desktop just put the cd in and reformat the drive and then install put the windows code in, then after install the drivers, is it the same as that? I just don't want to mess anything up :) thank you for any help.

    You'll need to install drivers first as Windows 7 activation goes through the internet (unless you want telephone activation). If you are using a Dell branded Windows 7 disc, Dell utilizes SLIC BIOS, so as long as the machine you are installing it on was licensed with Windows 7, it will preactivate Windows.

    I would highly suggest creating recovery media first, some people want the recovery partition in tact and all original content and that is what recovery media does.
