Which would be better for a new comp? Manually removing the crapware (possibly with a program such as pc-de-crapifier http://www.yorkspace.com/pc-de-crapifier/ ) or doing a fresh install.

These seem to be the pros and cons for me:
    Manual removal:
    Pros:
    Relatively quick with pc-de-crapifier
    Cons:
Possibly not the fastest (can anybody notice a difference?)
Possibly a pain to edit the registry

    Fresh Install
    Pros:
    Guaranteed fastest
    Fairly straightforward
    Cons:
    Have to mess with partitions
    Have to fix mediadirect
Have to wait for (free) xp cd to arrive from dell

I'd go with the fresh install, if it is possible. It just gets rid of most of the crap more efficiently.
