    Can you be more specific?

You could just find the programs uninstall exe or just delete the program from the harddrive but it'll probably leave traces in registry, etc.

Sometimes, there is an unintall package somewhere in the programs installation folder. You can try that, but if that doesn't work, then you can remove them manually, or use a removal program.

You can delete the folder altogether, but then you will need to go into the registry and remove the traces of the program otherwise it will still 'exist' on your machine.

I am trying to remove Windows Messenger from my system. I checked the Messenger folder. There is no uninstall. Can I just delete the folder?

I believe this can be uninstalled as a Windows component.

Go to Control Panel | Add Remove Programs.

Click the Add/Remove Windows Components button on the left (that's where it is in WinXP).

Wait for the menu to come up. You can delete MSN, Windows Messenger, and several other features you many not need/want (just uncheck the boxes). You can add them back in later, if you like, by doing the same thing and ticking the box.
