A friend of mine wanted to lock me out of my computer and so he put a password on my admin account. I'm wondering if anyone knows what I can do to erase this password and then of course if anyone knows a prank I can use on him to get back at him.

All help is appreciated. I cannot restart my computer right now because then I'll be locked out of the account, but I really need help removing this password, thanks.

Restart computer, open in safe mode and go to control panel and account settings I think, and click the remove password button.

I think I've tried doing that, but something went wrong. Where was the safe mode at. F2 was the system bios or something, and then F12 is the boot setup, but there wasn't a safe Boot option in there.

F8 is the startup options list... Press it after POST

There's always a safe mode option. Try F7 or F8... just press pretty much all the F buttons before XP starts to load.

Can't help you with the password (we really shouldn't be discussing that...), but here's a good prank.

    1) Get to his desktop
    2) Take a screen shot ('print screen')
    3) Set that screen shot (which you save as a hidden file on the desktop) as the background.
    4) Right click on the empty desktop->properties->desktop tab. Select 'customize desktop' and then remove all the icons. Any files he has on the desktop, move them to a hidden folder on the desktop.
    5) Right click on the start bar, unlock it. Then drag it down so you cannot see it anymore.
    6) Make sure all hidden files cannot be see.

You now have a perfectly correct looking desktop, but all the icons and start bar are actually part of the background (and the real stuff is mostly deactivated). Hopefully, he won't figure it out any time soon and he'll have to 'trade' you that password to get his PC back.

    Second prank...
    1) Create a new text file (anywhere really, but make sure you remember where). Save it as 'startup.bat,' making sure you change it to a batch file and not a text file.
    2) Edit 'startup.bat,' to contain only this line of code:
    3) Make sure the batch file is hidden, then save a shortcut to it to the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\ Insert his user name here\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
    4) Also, make sure the shortcut is hidden too.

Now, when he logs in the PC will automatically reboot after 30 seconds. If you want to shorten the time out (so that he cannot undo the damage), use this in the batch file instead:
It will now reboot every 5 seconds after he logs on. Once he starts pressing you to fix it, run this command (while the popup shut down message is counting down) from Start->Run:
    This aborts the reboot.

Lol, thanks a lot for this. These seem like very nice tricks which won't do too much harm. I'm going to do that next time I see him then, unfortunately, I left his house, so I don't know when I'll have a chance to do this though, but I'm going to copy and save what you wrote, thanks for this.

Yo, he's still in the desktop. He said he didn't want to restart or it wil lock him out. Just go to your user accounts click your name and then remove password.
