I need to send my notebook in for a repair, and I was curious how long it usually takes Dell to replace parts. Has anyone had really quick turn around? Does Dell pay for shipping to/from? I don't know anything about the process, so what can you guys tell me?

The only time I dealt with Dell's repair service was when due to no fault of hers, my gf's laptop decided to jump down from the desk to kiss the linoleum floor. Anyway the damage was not really extensive anyway -- the case was cracked, and the CD-ROM drive tray essentially dangles lifelessly. She had the on-site service, I made the call the same day, ONE day later a repair person showed up with all the necessary parts, fixed it on the spot, and was gone in 45min.
Was I impressed? Indeed...
cheers,
yass

I haven't sent anything to them, but from what I've dealt with them already, don't expect to get your laptop back for at least a month.
(1 week shipping, 1-2 week repair, 1 week ship back)
Repair time/experience w/ Dell?
