My replacement came today and the screen in terrible. The screen on the defective one if perfect and I was wondering if I could switch the two screens. Does anybody know how to do this and would it void my warranty?

It would definitely void the warranty.
You'd be better off telling Dell about the problem. You will have to wait a bit longer, but in the end, it will be worth it. -
I feel greedy asking for another replacement over such a small problem. Oh well, I guess I just have to live with it.
-
What exactly is wrong with the screen?
-
there is some leakage and a lot of graniness

It shouldn't be hard at all to switch the screen out. I've done it before to make the perfect computer.

F*ck the warranty. How do I switch the screen?

im having a ton of issues with them in dealing with the leakage from what it sounds like is the replacement i get may be WORSE POSSIBLY WAY WORSE than the one i have now.. sucks but i guess maybe i should live with it or return it..
why did they send you a replacement?? what was wrong with the original?? and what is wrong with the replacement?? did you have the leakage on the original?? thanks -
Why did they let you keep the original in the first place...?
-
I have ten days to return my defective one. I got a replacement because some of the keyboard keys were broken. (A replacement keyboard wouldn't work)
-

I'm pretty sure they allow you to ship it back with prepaid shipping included with the replacement machine. They told me to ship back my DVD drive after I receive my replacement with all costs prepaid.
-
did you have the light leakage though on the first one?? if not it may give me some hope but i doubt it.. i hate the leakage almost enough to just say forget it
-
I had light leakage on my first one. It wasn't bad at all though
-
Just a thought...
If he were to swap the screens, how will Dell ever know? In that case, how will they ever know the warranty is void if something else goes wrong in the future? -

-

-
Ya mine is definitely not anything close to yours.
-
wow maybe then the replacement will be better i can only hope.. how bad was your replacement they sent??
-
My replacement is grainy as hell.
-
sorry i meant the light bleed on it?? thanks again
-
I don't really notice it.

LCD panels have a serial number on them, so Dell WILL know if they find an LCD in a laptop where it doesn't belong in the first place.

Now go pick up your phone and call dell and tell them you are not happy with the end result! Go now Soldier! Go!
