My replacement came today and the screen in terrible. The screen on the defective one if perfect and I was wondering if I could switch the two screens. Does anybody know how to do this and would it void my warranty?

It will void ur warranty. It's also much easier just to ask for another replacement.

It would definitely void the warranty.

You'd be better off telling Dell about the problem. You will have to wait a bit longer, but in the end, it will be worth it.

I feel greedy asking for another replacement over such a small problem. Oh well, I guess I just have to live with it.

It shouldn't be hard at all to switch the screen out. I've done it before to make the perfect computer.

I have ten days to return my defective one. I got a replacement because some of the keyboard keys were broken. (A replacement keyboard wouldn't work)

I'm pretty sure they allow you to ship it back with prepaid shipping included with the replacement machine. They told me to ship back my DVD drive after I receive my replacement with all costs prepaid.

    Just a thought...

If he were to swap the screens, how will Dell ever know? In that case, how will they ever know the warranty is void if something else goes wrong in the future?

LCD panels have a serial number on them, so Dell WILL know if they find an LCD in a laptop where it doesn't belong in the first place.

Noooo. You paid your hard earned money for their product and if you not satisfied you have every right to do so!

Now go pick up your phone and call dell and tell them you are not happy with the end result! Go now Soldier! Go!
