two words... "E" & "Bay"
-
Good luck with that, Dell will not forget about the item, they will charge you for it.
Call Dell and resolve the issue. -
Dell will call you at some point!
-
Seriously? Check the box, there probably is a return label that says to return the old one. If there is not, call Dell. Last I checked, pulling garbage like that will get Dell after you in a while. -
lucky you -
Usually its called a "cross shipment" - you are supposed to ship back the old laptop in the same box that the new one came in. There is instructions and a return label. Better do it soon though.
-
lol, yeah, best thing to do is to let dell know you have one of their puppys hiding at your house... or just wait for them to contact you and enjoy having two notebooks
... whats wrong with the first one anyway?
-
There is a plasic bag attached to the new computer you recieved - in it is a pre-printed return DHL waybill to use for the old computer. It is your responsibility to send it back, not Dell's.
-
You better send it back or they will charge your card for the other system -
SEND IT BACK!!! -
thanks guys for ur reply...i did not get any return label with the new machine...no instructions..its was just lik the new one.
i just got the invoice letter thats it.
guys have any of u returned the dell machine b4...did dell guys call u up or wt?how is the follow up?...
how can they put me at fault if they have't called me up for the return piece/or chrage me for it again...? -
plus i have complete cover warranty..toh any which way they r suppose to come and collect the old machine isn't it...rather me sendin it to them..nor was i ever told to send the machine anywhere.
-
I had this happen once, with a replacement part. Even though it was their mistake not to send a return waybill, it is still your responsibility to call them and resolve it, or they will charge you for it. Trust me.
It sounds like you're trying to find any and every reason to justify why you shouldn't send it back. -
thanks for ur moral reply.
-
Dell is supposed call you and ask for your email address so that they can give you a way bill, the day after your receive your shipment. I think you should call them and arrange this. Maybe they'll be nice to you for taking the initiative and calling them and give you something for free (doubt it). But I don't think you should wait and hope they don't realize. I don't think finding a 2000 dollar charge to your credit card a couple down the line will make you very happy
.

ok guys as uall advice...will be callin up dell 2morow and sort it out thanks guys.
-
Dell should have sent a waybill with the new system. However, I have had a waybill sent via mail with a letter attached stating the return instructions.
In any case, you need to contact Dell and have them send you a waybill for return. -
2. In a replacement situation, they don't transfer the warranty to the NEW one, until they get the old one back. So, no return - NO warranty whatsoever. -
Actually they transfer the warranty when you receive the new one. I asked if i could keep my first m1330 since i refused to accept the replacement, and they said it would be easier, if i swapped the hard drive and used the replacement, sent back the original, and waited for the new new (lol) replacement, because my warranty info had already been transferred to the new system.
^So many commas, lol. Definately not re-reading that. -
This happened to me with a Dell Digital Jukebox mp3 player a couple years back. They never had me ship my replaced unit back and I ended up having two.
-
Dell takes some time to reach out but there system will probably catch up eventually... although knowing how Dell works.. stuff does slip through the cracks..
Just to feel better I would send that guy back and reserve your place in heaven!!!!
ah -
Ethics, Morality and may be even legality suggest that you return what is not rightfully yours. In the event you do not return, Dell may go ahead and charge you. In any case please remember: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I wonder what will Dell do, if one uses a one-time-use/virtual debit/credit card for payment. There is no way Dell can charge that card again! Your thoughts on this issue? -
They know your address. How do you think they do parts exchanges? They send you a $200 lcd and dont bill you unless you dont return it. They never ask for a credit card, but they know your name and address and will find you.
If i was him, i would call up dell and have them assess the situation. If they say to keep it, then keep it. -
For a system exchange that isn't returned, Dell will not charge you. They will suspend your service tag and you will no longer have any tech support or warranty service.
I am saying this from experience because Dell somehow managed to loose my first 1330 exchange (out of 3 total). After about a month, they sent letters stating that I need to provide tracking info (which I did) to them or they will suspend my service tag and will no longer have support.
It's your call. You could roll the dice and maybe your system will never have a problem. But, if it does, your screwed.... -
-
Morals be damned, huh?
-
It's interesting to see how many people have little or no morals at all.
-
I *think* that i would call dell and ask them if i was going to get charged. If not and they "ok" it ill keep it... if not then whatever send back. -
Hmm! Return process is always a pain with Dell. Most of you know my "return" story. If you don't know about it, do a search.
-
Although a laptop is obviously different than a keyboard, the principles and morals are still the same. You have something that you did not pay for and is not rightfully yours. -
-
I would also like to add to those who can't make an ethical or moral decision:
A faulty notebook/part could be dangerous and may be even fatal. The risk of fire/explosion, injury/death to your family/pets, or damage to your property isn't worth the risk. -
In order to feel bad, you'd have to know what you're doing is wrong. -
Finders keepers!
No but really, if you think that they arent going to notice your wrong. They might not contact you, but they will not refund you either. And yes someone who makes posts like this is actually just trying to get talked into keeping it, which is what they want to do.For shame!
