Hello,
I have an Inspiron 6000 (soon to be replaced by a recently ordered Studio). Anyway, the original adapter for this thing went bad a few months ago, so I ordered a replacement on eBay. Bad idea, 'cause it was a cheap piece of crap (though it does have the Dell logo imprinted on it.) I just moved my laptop a bit and sparks started shooting out from where the power enters the "box". The rubber even melted itself slightly to my carpet.Needless to say, I'm going to need yet another replacement adapter, but I don't want to pay $60 or get another P.O.S. Any suggestions??

Find a friend that has a free one? Unless you find a really low deal on ebay looks like your out of luck.

Just call Dell about it. They just sent me the Windows XP disc for my parents Insprion 6000, I'm sure they will send you an adapter. We actually have two because they made a mistake before when they lost our power adapter when we sent it in a long time ago. But I have no clue where it's at.

The exceptions only applies to Media, and rubber feets, they can send those to you even if you are out of warranty, but dont expect them to send you an AC Adapter. If you are looking for an ac adapter, you can buy one for 65 Dlls. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Power/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=310-3149&mfgpid=167133&chassisid=8427

I doubt they will send you a free charger. Try ebay again, but this time try to get a new one and an original from Dell with three prongs. The Inspiron 6000 uses the 65w adapters, but you can also use the 90w one. $65 is too much. I never had any problems with my 65w adapters.
