One of my friends cracked her D600 screen. Dell wants to charge her $500 to replace it. I told her to buy a space LCD and I would install it for her to save her money.

It currently has a 14.1 inch XGA screen. Can a 14.1 inch SXGA+ screen be installed?? theyre actually cheaper than XGA screens.

Also if anyone has any information/instructions about installing an LCD i would appreciate it a ton!

    Thanks

I think it is unlikely you'll be able to put on a SXGA screen without replacing other parts as well like the inverter, but it don't hurt to ask.

I found a website selling a 14.1 sxga+ screen that includes an inverter. Would the switch be possible then?

Here's someone at Hardforums that replaced their XGA with SXGA+ on their 600m. Should be the same with the D600.

I would recommend ebay, i've replaced a few screens for great prices on ebay... some vendors on there are reliable and they have Dell parts which is best.

I upgraded my screen no problem, you can interchange them with no issue.
