When Vista SP1 was first released to manufactures I called dell and asked for a Vista DVD that already had SP1 on it so that whenever I had to reinstall I wouldn't have to go through a lengthy download to upgrade to SP1. They said that they could not provide any other DVD than what came with the system. Is this true? Will it ever change? Thanks.

That's stupid. You'd think that by supplying the latest version, they would want to possibly lower support costs by having the latest service pack (and integrated on a disk) available to anyone that requests it.

I'm chatting with Dell now. They say they wont be releasing them to previous customers, it can only be obtained through Microsoft.
Oh, and the rep was claiming only the RC was released, but of course we know better. It was released to manufacturers last month.
Of course I corrected him/her, but it still stands, you have to be a new customer to recieve it. -
I don't get it. Oh well.
