    Hello,

Is it possible to have a new keyboard if this original keyboard on E1505 fails on me? I mean does someone other than DELL locally fix another keyboard in place of it?

Just a question. I am using this keyboard and it is just perfect except for the long backspace <- key which when pressed hard (I should not do that) it gives a very very very little springy sound going down. While typing it is very tactile and nice. But I noticed it because other keys do not make that sound. It is like hinges making sound without a lubricant oil. But it is very soft sound.

keyboards are cheap. too cheap to worry about "fixing" one. just buy a new one.

My 6000 made sounds like that for a while when it was new, then it went away. I guess the keyboard was breaking in. I replaced my keyboard when one of my keys broke off and it did this again with the new keyboard. Again I think the keys were breaking in. Don't think it's anything to worry about. If ever a key does break off and won't go back on. Give Dell call, they'll either ship you a new keyboard, have you send it in to get a new one, or send someone to your house to put it on.

It could be that you have something stuck under your key. You can go to Wal-Mart or any computer store and buy a can of compressed air. Then gently spray it under the spacebar and other keys.

As Metamorphical said, it is easy to get the parts replaced. If you are under warranty, dell will send a new keyboard to you, free of charge - you'll receive it in about two days.

If your keyboard breaks while your laptop is out of warranty, do as what Drumfu suggested. Keyboards are cheap (mine costed about 20 bucks) if you know where to look. I would start with Ebay and googling. If you can't find a cheap one, then you can call Dell's Spare Parts as a last resort.
