Hi,
Are all replacements refurbished? Is it possible to get a new one instead (XPS m1330)
Thank You.
-
Your replacement if ordered within the first 30 days is brand new and not refurbished. Outside the 30 day mark, they may send you a refurb at their discretion.
-
Is there a place where I can find this under a policy? Is it 30 days from order date or date received?
-
I think it's 30 days after the laptop is received.
-
Thanks. XPS support on the phone is saying that it's going to be refurbished!
-
You better tell them to go to hell. You paid for a new laptop, you want a NEW laptop!
Just threaten to return it. That usually gets their panties bunched up -
They won't budge. I will need to find the policy online that states this and educate all of technical support.
-
tell them you will just send it back and cancel.. trust me it will be new i had 3 replacements in total and all were brand new as long as you are within 21 days from the invoiced date it will be a new system... outside of the 1 day period it will def be a refurbished one.. honestly i know a ton of people that bought refurb dell's and they all looked smelled and acted as brand new.. so take it for what you will and remember they have gone through the refurb's again to double check any kind of issues...
-
Dont go to Tech Support for this. Go to Customer Service and explain your situation.
I know of only no other that was denied before the 30 day period. My guess, in fact, is that the Tech Rep that you were talking about doesnt know his sphinkter from a hole in the ground. -
Hmm, okay. I hope it's not too late, for he created a dispatch already.
-
^^^^^ yes 150% agreed tech support is who tried to give me a refurb.. i called back and then spoke to csr and they cancelled the one tech support setup and did a re-order through them and assured me it was brand new.. i forgot all about that till flamenko said something ...
-
Update: Called XPS again, explained situation and this one put me on hold, then came back with info from higher-ups. It will in fact be new (apparently up to 21 from when it was received,) with a case number as well.
Thanks for all of the help everyone.
Hopefully, the replacement won't have any exterior and battery problems, as well as any new ones. Otherwise, my next laptop will be a higher-end Sony. -
Another hap-hap-happy Dell client lol

what happens to any dells that are returned to them? are they strip apart and refurbished? or if the specs are the same as another customers, will the refurbished set be sent to the new customer? just curious. i just ordered my 1520 (i'm in malaysia), and i ordered my laptop on the 28/8, the est. delivery is on the 6/9. after hearing about the delays on this forum, i'm surprised that they are able to ship to me very fast. do they have pre-built machines ready on standby? or is every single pc by them made to order?
-
I'm lost... What is the big deal over if it is refurbished or not?
All I care about is that my machine works... If they have to replace it because it isn't working with another machine I'm happy as long as it has what i paid for and works...
Maybe it is the environmentalist in me that doesn't like the idea of all these wasted electronics... I'm glad they don't always give everyone new machines...
-
i'm aware that they do get their base pc's from another company...hmmm just worried, because mine is shipping to me so fast, just worried it might be a refurbished unit, BUT i know it won't be. just the little worries, first time buying and dealing with dell.

if you are within 5 weeks of your receipt date, contact customer service, NOT tech support.
If your laptop is 6 months old and you are having problems, you can not expect them to give you a brand new laptop in exchange for your "old one" -
Most returned laptops are refurbished then sold through a Dell outlet. I know two people who bought refurbished Dell laptops through outlets, and basically you could not tell they were ever used, and nor are you suppose too.
Refurbished as far as I am aware means that they were returned faulty or just unwanted, fixed to brand new status, then sold at a discount or used as replacement systems.
More than likely you are getting a refurbished system and you are simply unaware of it(you never know)
-
haha that sucks. well in my order status, it spent 2 days in manufacturing LOL so i hope it's a brand new set. LOL
-
They actually can give you a new system. I had a 15 month old Inspiron 1705, it was just replaced with a brand new Inspiron 1720 a few weeks ago. I didn't accept a refurbished system. I told them that they need to keep sending technicians out to my house until it's fixed. After about 5 tries, they gave up and gave in. I got an upgraded 1720.
