I have a Dell Studio 1735 with a Mobile Intel 965 express chipset and i would like to replace it with a more powerful graphics card. Is that possible, how much would it cost and what would i need. Thank you

Sorry, but it isn't possible unless you completely swap out the motherboard for a 1735 motherboard with a different GPU soldered on.

Yeah, its impossible unless you completely swap the motherboard and buy the 1735's GPU if it is a separate card. You have to remember that you are stuck with what you get graphics-wise when you purchase a laptop. It isn't a desktop where you can buy a fancy PCIe graphics card and toss it in if you dislike the crappy Intel IGP.

But if we have a PM45 chipset mobo with a ATI 3650 we could upgrade to a newer GPU like an ATI 4650 series especially since ATI says the 4000 series is pin to pin replaceable with the 3000 series.

Let's not turn this into that kind of thread. The OP asked about his integrated video chip and there is nothing he can do to upgrade it short of completely replacing the mobo.
