Sorry if this is in the wrong forum - I'm new. I accidentally broke my Dell Inspiron 1420's LCD screen so I sent it to them to repair. Unfortunately, it will cost me $358 (replacing it, running diagnostics and maybe a 90-day extension on my warranty - not sure what the lady said, etc.).

I was wondering if I should pay or just buy a screen off eBay for almost $140 and replace it myself. Or any advice on what I should do in general?

If you have accidental coverage(Complete Cover/Complete Care), it wouldn't cost anything.. Otherwise, getting a LCD panel from ebay is the best option...

Yeah, I know that's what I need, but I was just wondering if it's better to do it myself or get Dell to. I only have a few weeks left on my 'limited' warranty.

Is it worth to extend or upgrade my warranty?

Strangely enough it's cheaper to just get an extended warranty that covers accidents.

So if I upgrade to the "Accidental Damage Protection" warranty plan, they'll fix it without charge?

Edit: I called Dell. They won't cover the screen this time, but if I were to buy it, it would cover next time. So I'm back to square 1.
