I have this mysterious scratch on the lid of my laptop and it has been driving me insane. I am very careful with my electronics, I want them to stay perfect, and I cannot think of one instance in which this could have happened. I'm assuming something may have done it while the laptop was in the bag, though it's in a completely separate sleeve. Either way, I don't know how it happened.

Is there a way to have my lip replaced? I have the Graphite Grey Studio 17, and it's still under warranty. I don't know if my warranty would cover this or not since it's not really interfering with operation. It would be nice if Dell replaced it, but I wouldn't mind buying it either if I had to. I'm not even sure that the lid can be replaced, though. Does anyone have experience with this that might be able to offer some advice?

    Thanks :)

Unless you got the accidental damage (CompleteCare) coverage, then Dell will probably not replace your lid since it's not their fault. The Graphite Gray lid is definitely way prone to scratches, though.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can buy a lid from somewhere like parts-people.com and install it yourself.
