    Hi,

I somehow managed to drop my new Dell Studio 1555, resulting in a cracked screen.

With some hardware knowledge I felt that the best option would be a self-replacement job. However, the 1555 screens alone are over £100 on eBay

However, there are 1545 screens for just £60. Would one of these work OK on my 1555?

    Help much appreciated,

    Mark

The 1555's screens are 15.6 inch, and the 1545 is a 15.4...don't think they will be compatible.

Are you positive about this? When I eBay searched for 1545 screens, the results all said 15.6"

Ok thanks, I'll take your word for it. Not worth the £45 to buy a screen that wont fit.

the latest version of the inspiron 15 (1545) is a 15.6... but not necessarily an LED... they come in LED and CCFL.... so... best to just get a studio 1555 and be done with it.

The Inspiron 1545 is indeed 15.6", same as the Studio 1555. But as Stabilo pointed out, make sure that you're getting the LED version and not CCFL.

Also, Voltaire, that site lacks the new Studio 1555 15.6" displays.
