Hi,
I have been experiencing overheating problems on my Dell Inspiron 1525.
So after dealing with the support@Dell , they are sending down a technician to replace the motherboard and the heatsink
Now, will I need to reinstall my OS ( Windows XP ) after the replacement of motherboard? Will there be driver incompatibility issues?
Or can I continue using the system like before , after the replacement without having to worry about the above?
Also, as XP does not recognize SATA HDD , before installing I tweaked an option in the BIOS to change SATA from AHCI to ATA mode. So will I need to do that again after the motherboard replacement? and will this change require me to reinstall the OS?
I'd be grateful if you can clarify this for methanks!

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
If your new board is identical to your old board (which is most likely the case; I don't think the 1525 underwent any major revisions during its lifetime), it should be plug and play. You should be able to use the machine like the replacement, without having to worry about any of the above.
Boot it with the new board in front of the tech and make sure everything is working.
EDIT: Please don't bump your posts. -

Changers you made in bios will not be there in the new motherboard that the technician is going to install. So if I were you:
-enter bios before the technician arrive and write down all your bios configuration options.
-After technician have replace the motherboard, start the laptop and enter bios and see if what you written down earlier match with the replacement motherboard bios configuration and change them accordingly so that your bios configuration is same as the old motherboards bios configuration.
-Save and reboot.
As far as drivers and OS are concerned you'll be ok, since you are not changing to a different model of hardware. Just doing an identical replacement.
one more thing when the technician is there and changing motherboards write down the following info for the old and the new motherboard (they should be printed on the motherboard)
-Motherboard model number and revision
-Motherboard serial number
