I am going to order an Inspiron 1520 and it's WXGA+ (I think... it's 1440x900). I read that that resolution has the worst grainy screen problems so now i'm worried. Do you think if I requested a LG screen through the chat on their website I could get one?

No, you cannot request a laptop screen as the Dell CSRs have no way to pick the screen for you. It's a big factory in China, and you get whatever screen that's in the factory when your laptop is being built.
