Dell's account page shows a charge for these discs but they don't show up on your statement. My account also showed two packages, but one is for the return shipment. I spoke with Dell about this and they said don't worry about the return waybill...it's a mistake. Obviously, there's nothing to send back... :D :D

For those who got the OS DVD called
Kit,Software,Overpack,VHP32 Digital Video Disk Drive English

Is it a Recovery DVD or OEM OS DVD.

To my understanding OEM OS DVD includs full OS where as recovery DVD does not.

I just got my OS DVD. It is the Vista Home premium even though I had the Basic first. They did not send me anything else but my laptop already came with the Driver, Utility and Media Direct resource DVDs.

Just debating if I should install fresh Vista and remove the recovery partition. etc.

Anyone with an old Dell XP computer, can you try to put Vista Premium on it and see if it works? I could get an Vista Premium CD but I'm not sure if it'll work with the XP key that it my computer has.

Just a reminder, if you paid for Vista Basic you only have a license to run Vista Basic; even if you receive a Premium OS disc from Dell you are still only entitled to Basic.

Why is it that Inspirons come with the OS disc but not the Vostro, who are supposedly meant for more serious/business users?

In anycase, I just asked my CSR on the phone about a Vista disc, she said it doesn't come with any but sent one out of courtesy, and right now it's in a relative's posession as well as the laptop... can't wait until tomorrow!
