    Hi,

I am new to the forums, though I have been reading through the threads (sub-forums) since April.

I recently ordered an XPS M1330, with a shipping date of 8/17/2007.

The price came out great, since it was under the employee purchase program.

However, I am not a fan of windows Vista and will probably use XP until It is no longer relevant (in terms of features and updates) or until Windows comes out with a better OS (ha!) or if I choose to move to Linux/OSX.

In turn, from your experience and knowledge, is it possible to sell Windows Vista (once received from Dell,) even though it has been installed and pre-activated? I will be receiving all of the disks and will not have much use for Windows Vista.

If it is possible, do I need to transfer activation numbers and so on?

All responses will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You

    cause its an OEM license...

(i.e. u can't resell those licenses... its like binded/"married" to the computer u bought).

those who have the knowledge and means can get Vista for free and then install it and use it by other means. those who don't have the knowledge won't be able to use it since there will be no independent serial key provided.

    Thank you for the replies.

That's too bad - $100-$150 in savings would have been appreciated.

However, Vista with OEM are selling on Ebay?!

You can buy OEM Windows from authorized resellers/integrators. You cannot transfer a OEM license you bought to someone else. Plus, who said everything being sold on ebay is legit?

Also, you cannot even transfer an OEM license you own from the original computer to another computer that you own. Major upgrades to the original computer can also be a problem.

supposedly MS addressed that issue and made it easier to work with Vista on different hardware upgrades, unlike how XP was. however, i have yet to find anyone to verify that.
