I have an e1705 with a nvidia go 7900 gs that runs at its native 1920x1200. I'll put it into sleep mode. Then once I resume it, about 50% of the time the resolution will AUTOMATICALLY be at 1024x768. This really annoys me since it will rearrange my desktop icons. Please tell me that there's some sort of solution to this annoying problem. Thanks for your help

    Hey!

I had this problem too, and while I can't tell you exactly what I did to make it go away (I tried so much I can't remember what worked), I can suggest a few things.

First off, open up your power options via the battery icon by the system clock, and switch to any plan other than "Dell Recommended". I use a modified version of "balanced". Open up your advanced power options, unlock them all by clicking the button at the top with the shield by it, and customize it to your liking. I can't recall any particular setting I changed to make it work, but like I said, my problem has disappeared.

The other thing you're going to want to do is to mess with the external monitor settings. The resolution you are getting, 1024x768 is the maximum resolution you can output to a TV (I know it switches to this one because I've connected my TV). I would suggest opening your NVidia control panel (windows-e, control panel, additional options, nvidia control panel, display options) and double-checking that your computer isn't detecting a TV, force detecting a TV, outputting to a non-existant TV, etc. There are also multi-monitor display options under the Windows display options. Right click the desktop, hit personalize, then display options, and mess around with the two monitors that show up here. Hell, if you have the right cables, try connecting a TV and then disconnecting it.

I hope this helps, but if it doesn't, just pray that NVidia will release some actual Vista mobile drivers for the GS 7900.
