Any way to get it any higher than 1280x800. I'm used to 1280x1024 on desktops, and have become acustomed to 1280x800 on my 14" M140. And, it's a little too big for my taste.

    Thanks.

SXGA+ is the monitor you will want 1680 x 1050, but if you already have the lower rez screen, I think it will go higher on an external, but that is about it.

I didn't get that, because I don't quite want that high of resolution.

    I'm thinking something like 1440x????

    Nope it's either 1280x800 or 1650x1050.

the max resolution available on the 140 is WXGA which is 1280x768/800. you cannot get any higher res.

the only widescreen 14" notebook i know of with WXGA+ (1440x900) is dell's new latitude 620.

external monitor should go up to WUXGA regardless of your vidcard.

The highest is the WXGA+ on the D620, like drumfu said above. Check out Fujitsu or Toshiba if you want nice screens.

It sounds like you've already bought this computer? If you got the lowest (or middle) screen option - the WXGA one - 1280x800 is the highest resolution it will display at.

I got my system a few days ago, with the WXGA true life screen - I love the machine and the clarity is actually pretty good... but I can't stop thinking about returning it for the upgraded resolution of the WSXGA. However, given the complaints about leakage and small fonts with the higher resolution screen, I wish I could see them side by side to compare....can someone with a WSXGA screen do a "print screen" of their desktop, so I can see how small the icons are? Any thoughts about the quality difference for photo editing and movies would be appreciated too. Thanks.

It is like having a huge executive desk compared to a small child's desk. So much more room to work with and clearer print too!
