    Hi everyone,

I'm planning on buying a Dell Studio 15 and upgrade the standard 1280x800 screen to a 1920x1200 one(for games, videos etc). My concern is, with this display setting, should I find the icons/texts etc be too small for everyday general use, what other resolutions setting are there to choose from?(the 1920 screen) Would 1440x900 be available or does it go straight down to 1280x800? Can any Dell owners confirm this please?

Likewise, if I upgrade the display to 1440x900, I assume 1280x800 will be available as well?

I've tried confirming this with a Dell agent but they don't seem to have any clue... Just kept saying the 1920 screen is better... but if I worry then just get the 1440 and kept trying to make a sale. Grrrrrr! Serious, what kind of training do they get?

I've asked this same question on Yahoo Answers as well but no one seems to know the answer. :(

So I've joined this forum now hoping someone here could help.

Thank you in advance for your input. :)

If you get a higher resolution screen, then yes, you can set it to a lower resolution, although it will be somewhat fuzzy or blurry, simply due to the nature of LCD screens. That will happen on any LCD if you run it at a non-native resolution.

Personally, I think 1920x1200 is a good resolution for that size, but I have no issues reading really small text. The other options are 1280x800 and 1440x900. I have the 1280x800 screen right now, and it's a good screen, but I wish I could have a higher resolution.

So, if you get the 1920x1200 display, you can still set the resolution to 1280x800, 1440x900, or whatever else you like. Just don't expect it to look as clear as the native resolution.

for 15 the best is 1440x900 trust me.
    1920x1200 is for 17
    1280x800 too big and uncomfortable
I tested 1280x800 before mine 1440x900, I don't have acc now to 1920x1200, but 1440x900 is well, and I guess 1920x1200 will be too small for sure
