Restore M1330 factory settings without Recovery Partition

Basically - I worked my ass off and saved for ages to buy my Dell XPS M1330 only to have a problem connecting to the internet. I took it to my computer centre at university only to have the 'technician' unnecesarily reinstall vista. I now have the same problem as mentioned in this thread with vista constantly restarting and having to be reinstalled with the OS disc.

I also by mistake deleted the recovery partition. All I want to do is get my laptop back to the way it was when I first got it out the box but I cant do a factory restore because I deleted the partition. I'm waiting for vista SP1 to hopefully sort out the above problem but until then is there any way I can get a disc or download something which has the m1330 factory settings??? I dont care about the bloatware that comes with it. Cheers for any help

 

1. The Recovery Partition that comes with xps m1330 is useful, but in no way necessary. It wouldn't be worth bothering to try to find ways of getting it back (So long as you have the Vista Cd and the Drivers CD that came with the laptop).

2. From the sound of it the best thing to do is to do a complete re-install. Your xps m1330 hopefully should have come with the Vista CD and the Drivers CD. Put the Vista cd in. Press Install. In the next screen go through all your partitions and delete them. This will delete everything on your laptop. Then take the cd out and put the medadirect cd in and re-start. Go through the screen and create a partition for mediadirect. You have to do this before installing vista. Then once again put the Vista cd in and now install vista.

3. I had a similar problem with the drive continuously re-starting after a re-install. It turned out that I hadn't re-installed Intel Matrix Storage Utility, and once I installed it I had no problem. Try to see if you have that program installed.
