I swear by this program Partition Recovery v2.0 (c) MeetSoft.
I have use the all but this is King of the road and fast at that.
In my case I had a major error on my backup drive 300GB with 200 plus GB of data. Long story short had to format the drive once done after many hours if no days I ended up using the above program and got every file back with no errors.
    1. get a backup drive to copy the data over.
In your case it might be easier to get a copy of bart boot CD this disc with help you boot into your system and also correct any error on boot sector etc..
