I just purchased my 1537 and got it over the weekend and have not opened it yet because I've been reading the news on the 1555 coming out. I called Dell about a return and they insisted I will have to pay a 15% restocking fee even though I haven't even turned the darned thing on!! Well its a pain to lose $100 on this laptop I purchased but I can't seem to shake the belief that the 1555 is a better device. Here are the pros and cons on each and would like advice on what you all would do:

    Pros for 1537:
    - I already have it
    - Technology has been around a while

    Cons for 1537:
    - Bad speakers (so people have said)
    - Heavier than 1555
    - Issues with touch sensitive buttons (so people have said)

    Pros for 1555:
    - Subwoofer
    - Lighter weight (5.5 lbs starting weight is better than 6 lbs starting weight of 1537)

    Cons for 1555:
    - Not sure how much it will cost (dont mind as long as its less than $1000)
    - Not sure when it will come out in US (dont mind as long as its before April)
    - Newer technology that has yet to be proven

    What would you do?

If you want to get that return, w/out the restocking fee..tell them you changed your mind upon arrival & and want to return so you can get the Dell Model you factually want.

Advise you are w/in your 21 days, and returning and getting the Dell model you want..is for both Dell's interest, and yours *the customer*

    That might work. ;)

I was going to purcahse the 1737 and I decided to wait for the 1555 instead. I don't care about the "features" Dell has removed from the new design and the updated hardware is a big plus for me.

if you have to pay the restocking fee, and theres no way around it, i say keep it. depending on what your current specifications are and what you want out of the Studio 15, it may or may not be a worthy upgrade for you

    Icecubez189,

I plan to use it mostly for home. I have an NAS at my home and plan to use the laptop to stream music/photos around the house, do some HD video editing from my digital camera, some Photoshop/Flash work thats for my personal site, and finally to use Quicken for home bookkeeping.

No gaming or use outside the home (at least 90% of the time).

I know my wife will use it a lot to browse as well so the reduced weight of the 1555 is the most intriguing factor as I love 15" screens but prefer a laptop to be under 6 lbs.

Still agonizing over it... on top of this Dell offered to refund me $75 just to keep it so that makes it even more interesting.

One thing I keep hearing issues about is the touch sensitive buttons and I don't know if it will be an issue on mine. I don't personally care for those too much myself.
