I'm returning my m1330. Until they can fix the CPU noise properly I'm just not able to work with it. Am returning it for a full refund. Pity, because it's a gorgeous little machine. However, it's not worth my sanity!

Dell, keep trying (I know the CPU whine isn't their fault but it was their choice to use the chips). You've shown that you can at least try to put together a top class notebook. Fix the whine and the build quality issues and I'll be back. Oh, and next time please try to put the correct amount of RAM in my machine.

Finally, just thought I'd say thanks for all the advice I've received here over the past few weeks. I've learned a lot.

Glad to see some ppl over here who think normally...If some thing is not you.. send it back and refund.. that the way it should work.."whining" over phone for a "better" CPU or whatever is certainly and sould not be the right way.. Hope you will find some other m/c which will serve you best..

Is this a Penryn machine? I'm waiting for my T8300... Just so you know there are M1330's that don't whine. But seems luck of the draw at this point.

Like the Samsung screens, Dell probably isn't concerned over a small problem that causes less than 1% of returns. I'm not saying you are wrong for returning, it is just a bummer that large companies will not fix the little things too.

I just returned my M1530 due to the Samsung screen issues. Guess I will just wait until they run out of Samsung screed or start offering the LEDs.

No, Santa Rosa. To be honest I'm just tired of waiting for fixes, if you know what I mean. I'll stick with my trusty, noisy old desktop until a true fix is found. :)

Yeah. One of the support guys was trying to make me feel like I was the lucky one for being over 26 years of age and still able to hear the noise! Yeah, lucky me...

I am also worried about having this issue. I am about to order an XPS m1330 with the new Penryn CPU. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
