I remember a couple of years ago, after ordering a computer, dell would allow you to return parts that you did not need, like replacing the hard drive for something bigger. I just ordered the Vostro 1500 with 1gb of ram and I did not want to pay an extra $150 for another 1gb. I plan on buying my own ram and returning the 2x512mb chips back to dell. is this still do-able? or should i just sell the ram on craigslist?

If you also would like to do this, you could sell it on these forums, Click Here.

im pretty positive dell NEVER accepts that sort of exchange.
Ive never seen anything like that online, ever.
you cant just order something, and then part pieces out you dont want for cash from dell. get real -
Like I said in the original post, this is something dell used to do (there was a cheap 400sc server deal a few yrs ago that came with a 40gb hard drive. people who ordered it were returning the hard drive to dell and getting credited whatever it is dell charges for 40gb hard drives). i'm just asking if dell still accepts part returns.
it's not an 'online' thing. ppl would call up dell csr after receiving their computer to get an rma number for the return. -
you can sell it here or ebay it
