    I wiped my harddrive that had MD3 on it (originally had MD2) and decided that I liked 2 better. However, now Media Direct wont boot at all. I just get the MD splash screen and something saying it can't load.

    Do I need to wipe my harddrive a different way to completely get rid of it?

    EDIT: Title should be Reverting, sorry ;_;

    Did you uninstall MediaDirect in Add/Remove Programs?

    I completely wiped the patritions, but not the MBR. Loaded my partitions, restored, from a ghost, XP (without MD). Installed MD, then Quickset. Didn't work, then used repair utility, still didn't work.

    EDIT: And I will clarify that XP works, but if I use my MD button, it crashes at the splash screen. I can get the exact error message when I get home tonight.

    Did you uninstall MediaDirect 3 in Add/Remove Programs before deleting the partition?

    No...and the new Install does not have that. should I install/uninstall it?

    I would assume to do this I'll have to delete the MD partition, install it, then uninstall it since MD won't install if there is a previous version there?

    OK. You can try reinstalling MD3, then properly uninstall it, but don't know if it'll work with Windows seeing it already installed.

    Well, I think I'll wipe the MD partition, totally remove it, then install it again. That should give me a good uninstall (I hope).

    I like the visual elements of 2.0 better and have never used the 3.0 offic components, so I think it will suit my needs better.

    I may run with no MD at all though, since it installs on a logical partition (and I can only have one partition-set like that) it makes it hard to get linux as well since Ubuntu wants 2 partitions to itself and I can't make anymore logical ones.

    Ugh.

    Actually the logical partition bit is incorrect. You can only have one extended partition. The extended partition can hold an unlimited number of logical partitions on its own up to the number of available drive letters.

    you need to leave 1.5 gig blank space on your drive this can be done with partitioning software like partition magic etc do not fo anything with the blank space just run the m/d 2 cd through windows it will format the partition and copy the needed files and install software in windows then everything will function again

    EDIT: Wow, reinstall XP, and MD installs. Awesome, now, lets see if it really works....

    EDIT: In business. Reinstalling Vista Now. Woohoo!!! MD2.0 boots!!!

    EDIT: Ok, I now have 3 partitions: Vista, Programs, MD, too bad my Linux install wants 2 partitions ;_;

    Well, it was all a bust. MD2 would boot, Vista would boot, beu every time Vista started up, it saw my extra partition as unlabeled and empty. C'est la vie.

    Back to my working Ghost of Vista and MD3.
