After installing Vista Ultimate x64 I found that the Ricoh card reader would not read Memory Stick Duo's. It would detect them but refuse to read the contents (saying 'please insert memory stick in drive x:').

I tried the latest drivers from Dell and even tried older ones from the site as well. Nothing would fix it.

I have finally found a solution which is to install the 6.00.01.12 drivers (the latest on the Dell site are 6.00.01.11).

Here are two locations to get the drivers (the first can be abit slow at times):

    http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/drivers/card_readers/companies/ricoh/models/r5c84x/5857.html
    http://www.station-drivers.com/page/ricoh.htm

You only need to update the Memory Stick drivers. They are included in the zip archive under the "MSx64" folder.

Just open 'Device Manager', go to 'IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers'. Then right click on 'Ricoh Memory Stick Controller' and properties.
Select the 'Driver' tab and click 'Update Drivers' - pointing it to the MSx64 folder.

After rebooting you should be able to read Memory Stick Duo's perfectly.

I am so pleased to have solved this as it was my last x64 related driver issue..

If you have this issue, please post if this fixes it.

thanks so much for tip. Lack of responses to your post and even worse no info on Dell website is shocking. When I click in Windows Device Manager to update Ricoh driver got message driver is "up to date". All this shows failed generation.
LOL on Dell website they still offer 2 years old Sata and Turbo memory drivers that cause so many BSODs
