So I got the laptop for $799, all excited. Bring it home, looks terrific, boot it up, everything great.....

Oh wait, there ISNT A FREAKING HARD DRIVE IN IT. Back to Staples tommorrow I suppose.

Isnt a little late for that?.

Tell the store, but if you want to keep it so badly then just buy a HHD, but THE STORE MUST DO THAT.

How do you know there isn't a hard drive in it? Did you open the system, or did you get the error message when you boot it up, or did you look in the BIOS?

I will clearly not keep it, returning to store tommorrow.

As far as how I know, there is an error message at boot up. When I look at BIOS, it scans for hard disk, but doesn't find one! I don't want to open it up, in case that would screw up return policy.

I guess that makes sense. The reason I asked is if there is a harddrive in it and the problem is only loose connection then you can just connect it and hopefully it works well. But I agree that it is best to return the machine.

This was at the Cary, NC staples (off of Harrison ave). By the way, it had a hard drive in it, but the guy didn't want to touch it for fear of ruining the warranty. Oh well
