    Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a Vostro 1500 with following specs

    Vostro 1500, Intel Core 2 Duo T5270, 1.4GHz, 800Mhz, 2M L2 Cache
15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA LCD for Vostro 1500
    2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 DIMM
    128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    120G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Genuine Windows XP Home Edition, SP2
    Bluetooth
    Webcam
    2yr Warranty

I would say that I got a pretty good deal...only paid $707 for it.

Had one question about the processor though, the T5270/
I will be using my laptop for light gaming, web surfing, programming, and movies.

Will T5270 1.4Ghz be ok for me? Is it comparable to P4 2.6Ghz as far as performance is concered.

I am still under Dell 21 day return policy so I was thinking about upgrading to Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) [add $130]. Would it make a big difference? Is it worth it to pay extra $130?

    I will appreciate some help.

I'd shoot for somewhere in the middle.

I would suggest upgrading to the T7250, or better yet, a T7300, it will make it MUCH more future-proof..

I would go with at least a t7500. The 4mb cache will make a difference. With anything lower, I don't think for what you intend to use the lappy for, it'll be a big difference.
