    Hi,

I am wanting to purchase a pretty much base spec Vostro 1440:

    T5470
    2GB Ram
    1440x900 Tru Life
    Vista Business
    Bluetooth
    2.0 MP Camera
    120GB HD
    X3100 GPU
    9 Cell Battery

With the current Dell (UK) offer I can get this for £527.58 (good by UK standards - remember VAT and import tax etc). If i rang up and ordered it, do you think I could get a better deal? if so how? I have never rung dell before.

Edit: Also, is it fine for a non-business user to order a Vostro? Would it be better to do it over the internet to avoid any problems?

you will always get a better deal over the phone because the person is working on commision and they will make sure your order is successfully processed.

Not necessarily true, I called using my mother's EPP and mentioned the one I had spec'd on-line, the CSR said that she didn't see anyway she could come up with that price. It's a YMMV situation. I recommend both, first design it to your specifications on-line at the best price you can, save it in your cart, then call the CSR and reference your account.

One more thing to consider, the free delivery discount I am getting (-£51) seems to be online only. If I did get a better deal, any way I could get that discount over the phone?
