I was wondering if anyone had any issues with the WUXGA screen and rough edged images. For example, if you go to google.com and look at the top of the screen where it says "GOOGLE" in colors, it looks rough. The icons on the Quick Launch Bar as well as the icons next to the clock are like this as well. Every thing else looks amazing. Any thoughts?

right click anywhere on the desktop > properties > appearance > advanced...

you need to play with your settings like specifically the 'active title bar' size. mess around with resizing to either larger or smaller... once the find the magic setting, the icons will be as crystal clear as the rest of your display

Well there you go! One of the people I would have mentioned. I still believe you should look for oracledba and all the other posts. At least Drumfu might be offering you a quick fix that works for now!

forgot to mention re: web images...

right click anywhere on the desktop > properties > settings > advanced > general > dpi setting

set dpi to 96 instead of 120, should clear up the web image issue

Just received my Inspiron 9300 last week and had this same problem. I fixed it with by going to Control Panel/Display/Appearance/Effects. There is a check box with the following instuctions "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts." Be sure this box is checked and change the drop down from Standard to ClearType. Apply and click OK.

Before doing this I could hardly read my emails. They had a fuzzy or sparkly effect to them. Now they are very clear. Also in the Appearance Window, you can change the font size. I did this first and the fonts were still fuzzy and hard to read. They did not become sharp and clear until I changed from Standard to ClearType. [ :)]

cleartype shouldn't have any affect on the icons on the taskbar or images in browser, it's only for actual text

I think the images being jagged have something to do with IE's autoscaling and how it doesnt work properly...and plus Dell puts a registry value which then tries to scale the images...hence giving the jagged edges....

You will have to change that registry value to 0 and then close and reopen IE and then the images although smaller will be clearer around the edges......then you can change the dpi settings to suit your needs.........

search for a post about that somewhere in March I believe...
